CEI: American Sign Language - Intermediate

American Sign Language – Intermediate
Room B-2112
Leader: Denise Oviatt, CI/CT

Sunday, Sept 7 – Nov 23
6:45 – 7:45 pm

A variety of resources are used in this class to build in-depth vocabulary in ASL, increase receptive skills, and develop a well-rounded grasp of the language with an increased comfort level. Finger spelling excellence is an aim, as well as the opportunity to begin interpreting simple concepts in a variety of settings. Discussions are held about interpreter ethics, deaf culture, and other aspects of using the language outside the classroom. Deaf visitors will be invited to share experiences, stories, testimonies so that student can see the language in action as deaf people use it. New students are welcome to join who have at least two to three years of signing experience. (NOTE: Childcare is not available.)
